Brazilian could not see his mother for the last time after he was denied a visa

The Star published an article about a Brazilian who could not see his mother for the last time after he was denied a visitors visa. His mother, Fáttima Fernandes, died late on Wednesday at the age of 64.

 
Fáttima had been diagnosed with lung cancer on May 9 and only three weeks later, the family discovered that the cancer had already reached Stage 4.
 
Fáttima and her husband, Pastor José Ignacio Fernandez, moved to Canada six years ago and together they ran the Maple Leaf Christian Church, a small congregation of Brazilian Portuguese speakers.
