Imagine a mall with 350 thousand square meters, more than 800 stores, more than 24,000 employees, and that takes in more than 30 million visitors a year. That would be the West Edmonton Mall. Opened in 1981, it was considered the largest mall in the world until 2004. It is currently the tenth largest in the world and the largest in North America.

The WEM also features two hotels, an indoor water park, an indoor lake that contains a saltwater habitat with three sea lions, a hockey rink and even an amusement park!

With over 450 stores and services, this mall located in Metro Vancouver is the largest in British Colombia, and the second largest in Canada.

Opened in 1973, this mall has over 360 stores and is the largest in Ontario, and the third largest in the country. With over 160,000 square meters, it is located about 28 kilometers from downtown Toronto.

You can’t go to Toronto without visiting the largest urban shopping centre in the country. The Eaton Centre has four levels of shops and about 230 retail stores, not to mention the natural light provided by the mall’s massive trademark skylights.

Opened in 1964, Yorkdale is one of the oldest shopping malls in Canada. It was once the largest in the country and the first to include two anchor stores. Yorkdale has the second highest sales per area unit of any mall in the country, after the Pacific Centre in Vancouver.
